I don’t think I’ve actually said that at all, in fact it’s a great cover.
People should aim for something high always, because if you don’t you’re selling yourself short. Music is something of growth, and if you stop growing, or stop trying to grow then you are quitting on yourself.

Furthermore, if someone aimed high, they could do a cover of Fireflies, but rather than it being basic chords, they could make it amazing.

Music is as much about feeling as playing right. Give the most complicated sheet to a machine, it’ll technically be perfect but sound bland. Give the simplest song to a good pianist (like in this vid) and it’ll sound amazing.

[..YouTube..] at 3:23-24 (and anytime you hear those chords throughout the piece), the chord you are playing as “B flat” major should be “G minor”. Try it. You will see. It should go from G minor to A flat major. Its a small thing but it will vastly improve those sections. B flat major to A flat major is not a very natural progression, but G minor to A flat major is, which is actually what is in the song. You learned it very well though.
